Everything marketers ask first
Ad spy tool FAQ: platforms, public data and winning ads
Which platforms does it cover? Where does the data come from, and is it allowed? How do you know which ads work? Here are straight answers to the questions DTC brands, media buyers, strategists and agencies ask before they start.
Coverage and data
Google. AdEye searches the Google Ads Transparency Center, which is Google's own searchable record of the ads an advertiser has served across Google platforms including Search, Display, Gmail and YouTube, so a competitor's YouTube video ads appear in the same feed as their text and image ads. It does not search Meta or TikTok: those libraries either require an access token we do not have or are not open to the US.
AdEye works with 100% public ad-library data: the Google Ads Transparency Center. Nothing behind a login, no private or personal data. It is legitimate competitive research on ads that are already public.
No. Google indexes ads by advertiser, not by topic, so a search has to name a brand or a domain. Type a competitor's name or their domain and you get their ads; a bare keyword like "skincare" returns nothing, because Google does not offer that lookup.
Knowing what works
The signal Google publishes and the one that costs a competitor money: how long it has been showing the ad. An ad a competitor has kept live for 300 days is one they are still paying for; a one-day test is not. On the paid plans AI also tags each creative with its hook, angle and format.
Yes. AdEye keeps a swipe file with boards, and every saved ad keeps its run length and a link back to the original creative on Google, so the file is still useful months later.
Yes. Start from the creative a competitor has kept funding for months rather than from a blank page. On the paid plans the AI hook and angle tags give you the strategy behind it in words you can hand to a creator.
Fit and value
No. AdEye works for any advertiser: DTC, ecommerce, SaaS, lead-gen, local and agencies. Anyone who wants to see what competitors are running and what is working can use it.
Google's own Transparency Center has no analytics, no AI tags, no ranking by how long an ad has run, and no way to save anything. AdEye is the research-and-insight layer on top of that same public data.
You can run a couple of searches without an account, and a free account gives you a one-time demo of 10 searches that does not renew. The paid plans, Starter, Pro and Agency, give you a monthly search allowance and add the AI hook and angle tags. See the pricing page for the full breakdown.
