View competitor display ads, track competitors display ads and search the display ad library

Display is the channel most competitor audits skip. Meta ads are easy to pull up, so that is where everyone looks, while banner and responsive creative goes unexamined even though a lot of retargeting and mid-funnel budget quietly lives on the Google Display Network.

The creative is already public. Google describes its Ads Transparency Center as a searchable repository of advertisers and the ads they have served on Google platforms including Search, Display, Gmail and YouTube, and you can filter it by date and targeted location without an account. What it will not do is rank anything, tag anything, or tell you when a competitor launches a new banner. You get a grid of creatives and a date filter.

AdEye reads that same public record and turns it into a working feed. Search an advertiser or a domain and you get their live display creative with run dates attached, AI-tagged by hook, angle and format, sorted so banners that have been running for months separate from last week's tests. The same search returns that brand's Search, Shopping and YouTube ads from the same Google record, because a display push rarely makes sense in isolation, and every creative carries the date Google first showed it.

Google Ads Transparency has no ads on record for that search. Google indexes ads by advertiser, so the brand's exact domain works best — for example nike.com.
Google Ads Transparency has no ads on record for . That is an answer about the brand, not a problem with the search: they are not running Google ads that Google publishes, or they advertise under a different registered name.

Why it works

What a display ads spy tool should give you

Advertiser and domain lookup

Search a verified advertiser by name, or search the domain to catch every account pointing at it, including the agencies and resellers buying display on a brand's behalf. One lookup returns their live banner and responsive creative instead of a paginated grid you scroll through hoping to spot the interesting one. Domain search is the step most people miss, and it is usually where the second advertiser account turns up.

Run dates instead of guessed spend

Google publishes when each ad served. AdEye reads those dates and shows how long each of a brand's display creatives has been live, which is the honest public read on what a display budget actually sits behind. Nobody keeps funding a banner for three months that is not earning its place.

Display next to the rest of Google

A banner campaign usually echoes an angle the brand is already running in Search, Shopping or YouTube, or quietly contradicts it. AdEye resolves one brand across Google's whole transparency record and shows them together, so you can see whether display is carrying the same promise as the social creative or testing a different offer entirely. That comparison is the part no single-network tool gives you.

What it surfaces

Every ad card carries the hook, angle and a working signal

You type a brand or a domain. AdEye pulls that advertiser's live public Google ads into one feed and AI-tags each creative on the paid plans, so you read the strategy and spot the long-running winners before you save a single one.

Why AdEye

One feed, the AI read, the working signal in view

Not a stale doc full of screenshots. One query for a brand, the run length on every creative, and a swipe file worth reopening. Public ad-library data only.

Every platform at once

The Google Ads Transparency Center searched by brand or domain, so competitor ad research is one query instead of clicking through Google's own viewer.

The AI reads the why

Every creative is tagged with its hook, angle and format, and a working signal flags the long-runners and scalers, so you see why an ad works, not just what it ran.

A swipe file that stays current

Save winners to boards, each keeping its run length and a link back to the original creative on Google, so the file is still useful months later.

Good questions

Questions about display ads spy

In Google's Ads Transparency Center at adstransparency.google.com. It is free, needs no account, and covers the ads verified advertisers have served across Search, the Display Network, Gmail and YouTube. Search the advertiser name or their domain, then filter by date and region. Networks outside Google, including Taboola, Outbrain and the open programmatic exchange, publish no equivalent public library at all.
Not under that name. What people call the Google display ad library is the Ads Transparency Center, which is Google's counterpart to the Meta Ad Library. It is the one place display creative is officially published, and it is where you look up whether a given advertiser is currently running banners. There is no separate Display Network archive, and there never has been.
Yes. Google describes it as a searchable repository of advertisers and the ads they have served on Google platforms like Search, Display, Gmail and YouTube, so banner and responsive display creative appears alongside text and video ads. You can narrow results by ad format, which is how you strip out Search text ads and leave only the image creative you came for.
Open adstransparency.google.com, type the competitor's brand name or domain, pick the right verified advertiser from the results, set the region to United States, and filter the format to images. You will see their live display creative with the dates each ad ran. It costs nothing and takes about a minute per brand. It stops scaling once you are checking a dozen competitors every week.
No. Placement data is not part of the public record. The Transparency Center shows you the creative, the verified advertiser behind it, the format and the dates it served, but never the publisher list or the sites where each impression landed. Tools that report placements build them from measurement panels and modelling, which is an estimate rather than something Google published.
Manually, you would re-run the same Transparency Center search every week and compare it against a screenshot from last week, which is why almost nobody sustains it. AdEye puts the whole result in one place: search the advertiser, and each creative carries the date Google first showed it, so you can see how new a campaign is rather than a month in.
It is software that pulls the banner and responsive creative competitors are running from public ad libraries and makes it searchable, filterable and saveable. The useful ones go past listing images: they tag what each ad is doing, show how long it has run, and tell you when an advertiser starts something new. The weak ones are a nicer front end on a search you could already do.
Not for ordinary commercial ads. Google publishes spend ranges only for election and political advertising in the regions where that is required. A precise budget figure attached to a competitor's retail or SaaS banner is a model, not a measurement. The signal you can actually verify is how long each creative has run.
Usually because they have not completed Google's advertiser verification, and unverified advertisers do not appear. The other common reason is that you searched the brand name when the ads sit under a legal entity or an agency account. Search the domain instead: it returns every advertiser account pointing at that site, which often surfaces accounts the brand name never would.
Mostly responsive display ads, where you upload headlines, descriptions, images and a logo and Google assembles them to fit each slot, plus uploaded image ads in fixed banner sizes for advertisers who want exact control of the design. Video and Gmail formats sit alongside them. In the Transparency Center all of these are browsable by format, which is how you isolate the banners.
No. AdEye reads the Google Ads Transparency Center only. Native and push networks publish nothing comparable, so any tool showing you Taboola or Outbrain creative built that index itself by crawling placements. If native is the bulk of your buying, a dedicated native index like Anstrex or Adbeat fits better than we do.
Adbeat is panel-based. It estimates display and native spend and reports publisher placements across a very wide network list, and for programmatic media buyers that estimation is exactly the point. AdEye does not estimate anything. We read what Google publishes, so you get verified creative and real run dates on one platform rather than modelled numbers across many.
Yes. Those sit in the same repository, so a single advertiser lookup returns their Search, Display, Gmail and YouTube creative together. That matters more than it sounds: a brand often runs the same offer as a banner and a pre-roll with different framing, and seeing both side by side tells you which version they committed budget to.
Yes. Every ad in the Transparency Center is published by Google deliberately, for anyone to read, with no login required. Looking at ads a company is paying to show the public is ordinary competitive research, the same as reading their pricing page. AdEye works only from these public records and never touches anything behind an account.
Google does not publish a fixed retention window for commercial ads, and in practice the tool is built around recent activity: you get a date-range filter rather than a guaranteed archive depth. Election and political advertising is kept longer and carries extra disclosure in the regions that require it. If a competitor's campaign matters to you, capture the creative when you see it.
No, and this is the most common misconception about display research. The Transparency Center is a public website, open to anyone, with no Google Ads account and no billing profile required. You do not need to be an advertiser, and you do not need to be logged into anything. The same is true of AdEye searches, which read only that public data.
Read run length first. A banner that has served continuously for two or three months is one the advertiser keeps paying for, and that is a stronger signal than any creative judgement you can make by looking at it. Then read the last-seen date. A creative still serving today, months after it launched, is one that already earned its budget.
Yes. Anything you find can be saved to a board your team shares, with the run dates and the AI tags for hook, angle and format travelling with the creative. That is the difference between research you can reuse and a folder of screenshots nobody can search six months later when someone asks why a campaign was briefed the way it was.
