Ad spy tool pricing: what ad spy tools cost in 2026

Ad spy tool pricing runs from about $25 a month to a quote you have to sit through a sales call to hear. The spread is not a quality ladder. It is four different businesses wearing the same label: creative swipe tools, display and native intelligence, paid search intelligence, and raw search-results APIs. A $59 plan and a $399 plan often do not compete at all.

Every price on this page was read off the vendor's own pricing page, and each row carries the date we checked it. Prices in this category move quietly, and most of the roundups you will find quote numbers that were already stale a year ago. Where a vendor does not publish a price at all, this page says so instead of guessing.

The more useful comparison is the billing unit. One tool charges per search, another per user, another per brand you track, another per API call, another by how far back the data goes. Two plans at the same dollar amount can differ by a factor of ten in what you get for a real month of work. Sort by that before you sort by price.

Why it works

What you are actually paying for when you buy an ad spy tool

The billing unit matters more than the headline price

Nobody in this category charges for the same thing. AdEye bills by searches a month, 500 on Starter and 10,000 on Agency. Adbeat bills partly by results per search and partly by how far back you can look, 1,000 results and 90 days on Standard against unlimited results and a year on Advanced. SerpApi bills per API call. Foreplay adds $20 per extra user and $50 per extra brand. PowerAdSpy caps how many brands you can track, 1 on Basic and 30 on the top plan. Write down how many searches, seats and brands a real month needs before you compare any two numbers.

Cheap plans are usually cheap because a network is missing

The entry tier is almost always a subset of the platforms, not a subset of the features. PowerAdSpy at $69 covers Facebook and Instagram only; Google Search coverage does not arrive until the $279 Platinum plan, four times the entry price. Foreplay Basic covers a narrower slice than Agency. If the network you actually buy media on sits two tiers up, the advertised entry price is not your price. Check the network list per tier before the feature list.

Annual billing discounts here are unusually steep

A 20 percent annual discount is normal in software. This category is not normal. PowerAdSpy states every plan drops 58 to 70 percent on annual billing, with Basic falling from $69 to $27 a month and the top plan from $399 to $119, charged upfront as one payment. Foreplay saves $120 to $820 a year depending on tier. SpyFu saves $120 to $744. That gap is large enough that the honest question is not whether to pay annually, it is whether you trust the vendor for twelve months.

The number most buyers want is gated on purpose

Estimated competitor ad spend is the feature people arrive shopping for, and it is consistently the one held back. Adbeat puts spend estimates in the unpriced Enterprise tier only. PowerAdSpy puts Estimated Ad Budget on Platinum at $279, not on the $69 or $99 plans. Adthena and Pathmatics quote rather than publish. Worth knowing before you pay for it: nobody reads a competitor's ad account. Every spend figure sold in this category is modelled by scraping and inferring backwards, and it systematically undercounts brand campaigns, misses narrow geographic targeting, and cannot see Performance Max at all.

A quote-only vendor is telling you the price

When Adthena positions its Whole Market View at brands spending $500,000 a year and agencies at $2 million, or when Sensor Tower and Pathmatics route everything through sales, that is a real signal rather than a missing data point. Enterprise ad intelligence in this category generally lands in the low five figures a year and up, and the sales cycle costs you time as well. Third-party sites confidently quote $500 per user a month for Adthena. Adthena confirms none of it, which is exactly why this page does not print it.

Deliberately absent: several well-known tools render prices only behind JavaScript or a login, so we could not verify them on the date above and will not print a number we have not seen. If a roundup quotes a confident figure for every tool in this category, it is repeating other roundups.

What it surfaces

Every ad card carries the hook, angle and a working signal

You type a brand or a domain. AdEye pulls that advertiser's live public Google ads into one feed and AI-tags each creative on the paid plans, so you read the strategy and spot the long-running winners before you save a single one.

  • Compare monthly cost against the number of searches each plan actually allows
  • Check which advertising networks are included at the tier you can afford
  • See which vendors publish a price and which route you to a sales call
  • Work out the annual discount before committing to twelve months
  • Identify which spend and keyword figures are modelled rather than measured
  • Search any advertiser's live Google ads on AdEye from $39 a month
  • Export a saved board of competitor ads to CSV on the paid plans
  • Try a search on AdEye first, two with no account at all

Why AdEye

One feed, the AI read, the working signal in view

Not a stale doc full of screenshots. One query for a brand, the run length on every creative, and a swipe file worth reopening. Public ad-library data only.

Every Google ad at once

The Google Ads Transparency Center searched by brand or domain, so competitor ad research is one query instead of clicking through Google's own viewer.

The AI reads the why

Creatives are tagged with their hook, angle and format on the paid plans, a few per search and kept once read, and a working signal flags the long-runners, so you see why an ad works, not just what it ran.

A swipe file that stays current

Save winners to boards, each keeping its run length and a link back to the original creative on Google, so the file is still useful months later.

Good questions

Questions about ad spy tool pricing

Usually a lot, and the meter is rarely a flat rate. Semrush gates its Standard API behind the $549 a month Advanced tier and then bills separately for units charged per line of data returned, with no dollar price per unit published anywhere; its advertising reports cost 20 to 100 units a line against 10 for organic keywords. SpyFu is the transparent one, publishing $0.20 to $5.00 per 1,000 rows, with API access on its $119 Pro + AI and $249 Team / Agency plans; our SpyFu API pricing guide prices real workloads. Our Semrush API pricing breakdown works through a sample budget.
Ad spy tools cost between roughly $25 and $549 a month for published plans, with enterprise ad intelligence quoted privately and typically landing well above that. Creative swipe tools cluster at $29 to $119. Paid search and display intelligence runs $139 to $399. API access to search results starts near $25. AdEye starts at $39 a month.
Among tools that publish a price, entry plans start at $25 to $29 a month: SerpApi at $25, Creative OS at $29, and SpyFu at $29 if you pay annually ($39 month to month). AdEye starts at $39. Cheapest is rarely the right frame though, because entry plans usually exclude the advertising network you care about. Confirm coverage at that tier before you compare the prices.
It is worth it when you buy media continuously and need to see what rivals are running before you commit budget. One avoided month of a failing creative angle usually covers a year of a $39 to $99 plan. It is poor value if you check competitors twice a year, because the free public ad libraries already answer that.
PowerAdSpy costs $69 a month for Basic, $99 for Standard, $279 for Platinum and $399 for Palladium, verified on its pricing page on 31 August 2026. Annual billing drops every plan by 58 to 70 percent, taking Basic to $27 a month. Trials are paid: $1 for three days on Basic, $7 on the higher plans.
Adbeat costs $249 a month for Standard and $399 a month for Advanced, verified 30 August 2026. A third tier, Enterprise, is quoted by sales and is the only one that includes estimated ad spend. Adbeat advertises no free trial. Standard caps results at 1,000 per search and history at 90 days.
SpyFu costs $39, $119 and $249 a month for Basic, Pro + AI and Team / Agency, or $29, $89 and $187 a month billed annually, verified 6 September 2026. Extra seats are $30 each. There is no free trial, only a 30 day money-back guarantee, and the entry plan caps search results and exports at 10,000 rows.
Adthena publishes two prices: ChatGPT Ads Intelligence at $399 a month and AI Overview Insights at $350 a month, each with a 21 day free trial and no credit card required, verified 6 September 2026. Its core Brand and Whole Market View products are quoted privately and are positioned at advertisers spending $500,000 a year or more.
Some do and several do not, and the difference is worth checking before you budget. Adthena offers 21 days with no card. Foreplay offers 7 days. Semrush publishes no trial, only a free plan at $0. SpyFu has no trial but a 30-day money-back guarantee. PowerAdSpy charges $1 to $7 for a three-day trial. Adbeat advertises none. AdEye lets you run two searches with no account at all.
Because the expensive ones are not selling access to public ad libraries, they are selling modelled estimates built from continuous large-scale crawling. That crawling infrastructure is the cost. Tools that read public transparency data directly, rather than modelling spend and keywords, sit an order of magnitude cheaper for that reason.
In practice, price and audience. Ad spy tools sell creative discovery to media buyers and affiliates at $29 to $119 a month. Ad intelligence platforms sell modelled market share and spend estimates to enterprise teams at quoted rates. The underlying public data is often the same; the modelling layer and the reporting are what you pay the difference for.
You can see an estimate, never a measurement. No third-party tool reads a competitor's advertising account. Every spend number in this category is inferred from scraped placements and auction signals, so it undercounts brand campaigns, misses tightly targeted geographies, and cannot see Performance Max at all, because Performance Max never ran on a keyword list.
The public ad libraries are free and authoritative: Google's Ads Transparency Center, Meta's Ad Library, and TikTok's Creative Center. They show what is running right now with no retention of ordinary commercial ads and no sorting worth the name. Paid tools exist to add retention, run-length signals, saved boards and export, not to unlock hidden ads.
AdEye costs $39 a month for Starter, $99 for Pro and $299 for Agency, or $19.50, $49.50 and $149.50 on annual billing. Plans are sold by searches: 500, 2,000 and 10,000 a month. There is no free plan: a one-time demo gives two searches with no account and ten in total on a free account before deciding.
Annual almost always wins on price in this category, because discounts of 40 to 70 percent are common rather than the usual 20. The real question is commitment. Buy monthly for the first two or three months while you confirm the tool covers your networks, then switch to annual once the workflow has actually stuck.
Most small agencies land between $50 and $150 a month total. That typically buys one creative discovery tool plus one paid search intelligence tool, which is enough to brief creative and check rival messaging. Budgets jump sharply above that only when you need modelled spend estimates or multi-market share data.
Often enough that most published comparisons are wrong. Semrush restructured its entire plan lineup in 2026 and retired the Pro, Guru and Business names that most articles still quote. PowerAdSpy's tier prices moved this month. MagicBrief shut down on 31 July 2026. Always check the date on any pricing comparison, including this one.
