Competitor ad copy: Facebook ad copy examples running now

Ad copy is the cheapest thing to test and the most expensive thing to source. A copywriter opens a blank document and tries to invent a headline, while every competitor in the category has already published dozens of headlines that are currently paying for themselves, in public, for free.

The roundups of ad copy examples that rank for this search are mostly the same twelve famous ads, recycled since 2019, from brands whose budget and brand recognition have nothing to do with yours. That is not a swipe file, it is a museum. What a working copywriter needs is the copy running in their own category this month, and the ability to tell which lines a brand has kept paying for.

AdEye reads the public ad libraries and puts that copy in one place. Search any brand and read the headlines and descriptions running right now across their Search, Shopping, Display and YouTube ads, with each one tagged by the persuasion angle it uses and stamped with how long it has been live. This is Google copy only; Meta and TikTok publish separately and AdEye does not read them. Same public data the platforms publish, organized so someone can actually write from it.

Why it works

What a competitor ad copy library gives a copywriter

Every live headline in one feed

Headlines and descriptions from a brand's current Search, Shopping, Display and YouTube ads, pulled together instead of paged through one advertiser view at a time. Search by brand or domain to read one competitor end to end. Note that Google indexes its ad archive by advertiser rather than by ad text, so there is no keyword sweep across a category here: you work from a list of advertisers.

Copy grouped by persuasion angle

AI reads each ad and tags the angle it runs: price objection, social proof, founder story, problem agitation, risk reversal and so on. That lets you pull every objection-handling opener in your category at once, which is the view that shows you what the market is actually resisting.

Run length tells you which lines earn their keep

Any library shows you copy. Almost none show you which copy a brand has funded for six months. Every ad here carries a first-seen date and a run length, so a line still live after a quarter can be separated from a test that died in week two. That distinction is the entire difference between research and browsing.

Side by side

Where to find real ad copy examples, and what each source gives you

The honest trade-offs between the free platform tools, the listicles that rank for this query, and a tracked feed. Checked August 2026.

Source What you get Where it falls short
Meta Ad Library Live primary text, headlines and descriptions for any Facebook Page, free, no account Meta only. Stopped commercial ads leave results, and there is no way to filter copy by angle
Google Ads Transparency Center Live Search headlines and descriptions per verified advertiser One advertiser per search, no retention guarantee, keywords never shown
TikTok Creative Center Curated Top Ads with on-screen and caption copy Rolling 7, 30 and 180 day windows. No reliable advertiser search
Ad copy example listicles Polished analysis of famous campaigns, free to read Usually years old, rarely your category, and written about brands with budgets unlike yours
AI copy generators Unlimited drafts in seconds Trained on generic patterns, not on what is converting in your category this month
AdEye Live Google copy across Search, Shopping, Display and YouTube, tagged by angle, with run length on every ad Paid, and Google only. Like everyone else, we cannot show you a competitor's conversion rate

No source on this list reports how a commercial ad actually performed, because no platform publishes click-through rate, conversions or spend for ordinary commercial advertising. Run length is the closest honest proxy available to anyone.

Why AdEye

One feed, the AI read, the working signal in view

Not a stale doc full of screenshots. One query for a brand, the run length on every creative, and a swipe file worth reopening. Public ad-library data only.

Every platform at once

The Google Ads Transparency Center searched by brand or domain, so competitor ad research is one query instead of clicking through Google's own viewer.

The AI reads the why

Every creative is tagged with its hook, angle and format, and a working signal flags the long-runners and scalers, so you see why an ad works, not just what it ran.

A swipe file that stays current

Save winners to boards, each keeping its run length and a link back to the original creative on Google, so the file is still useful months later.

Good questions

Questions about competitor ad copy

Search the brand's Facebook Page in the Meta Ad Library to read the primary text and headline of every live Facebook and Instagram ad, and search their domain in Google's Ads Transparency Center for their Search headlines and descriptions. Both are free, public and need no account. AdEye pulls the Google half of that, the Search headlines and descriptions, into one searchable and retained feed.
The public ad libraries are the only source of ad copy that is both real and current. Meta, Google and TikTok each publish what their advertisers are running right now, for free. Most ad copy example roundups you find instead are analyses of famous campaigns from several years ago, which is interesting reading but a poor template for your own category.
Open the Meta Ad Library, set country to United States and category to All ads, then search a competitor's Page name. Every live Facebook and Instagram ad appears with its full primary text, headline and description. Search several competitors in a row and the patterns your category relies on become obvious within about twenty minutes.
Looking is entirely legal and is why ad libraries exist. Copying wording verbatim is a different matter: ad copy can carry copyright, taglines are often trademarked, and the practical problem is that the same line lands differently coming from a brand with different credibility. Study the structure and the angle, then write your own.
The first line above everything else, since that is what stops the scroll and does most of the work. Then the offer structure, the specific objection each ad answers, the proof it leans on, and the call to action. Patterns repeating across several long-running ads from different advertisers are the messages a market actually responds to.
No public source reports click-through rate, conversions or spend for commercial ads, so any tool claiming exact performance is estimating. The honest signal is duration. Copy that has been live for months is copy the advertiser keeps funding, and advertisers do not fund losers for a quarter.
Long enough to make the case and no longer, which in practice splits by purchase type. Impulse and low-price offers usually work in one to three lines because the decision is cheap. Considered or higher-priced purchases often run several paragraphs, because the objections have to be answered before anyone clicks. Check what the long-running ads in your own category do.
Yes. Google's Ads Transparency Center shows the headlines and descriptions of a verified advertiser's live Search ads, along with Shopping and Display creative. What it never shows is the keywords those ads are bidding on, the budgets behind them, or the targeting, because Google has never published any of that for commercial advertisers.
The Meta Ad Library shows the same public copy, but only for Meta, only for one advertiser at a time, with no way to filter by angle, sort by how long a line has run, or save what you find. AdEye adds the other three platforms, tags each ad by angle, records run length, and gives you a swipe file, so the copy becomes usable rather than merely visible.
Not across advertisers. Google indexes its ad archive by advertiser, so a keyword or niche query returns nothing; you search a brand name or a domain and get that advertiser's ads back. Mapping a category therefore means assembling the advertiser list yourself and searching them one at a time, then saving what you find onto a board so the claims can be compared side by side. No tool built on Google's record can do better than that, because the index simply is not there.
AI is good at producing variations once you know the angle and weak at telling you which angle your market responds to, because it writes from generic patterns rather than from your category this quarter. The sensible order is to find the angles that are demonstrably running and working, then use AI to generate variations on those. Evidence first, volume second.
Test angles before you test wording. Three to five genuinely different angles will teach you more than twenty rewrites of the same argument, because most copy tests fail on the underlying claim rather than the phrasing. Once one angle wins clearly, that is the point where variations on the wording start to pay for the traffic they consume.
Yes. Save any ad to a swipe file on any plan, and export it to CSV on the paid plans when you are writing a creative brief or building a competitive deck for a client. There is no API; CSV is how the data leaves AdEye. The platform libraries have no export at all, which is why manual research usually ends up as a folder of screenshots.
No. AdEye covers Google ads only. LinkedIn runs its own free Ad Library showing a company's ads from the past year, and that is the right tool if LinkedIn is your channel. We would rather point you there than imply coverage we do not have.
