iSpionage Alternative After the July 2025 Shutdown
iSpionage shut down on July 9, 2025 and TapClicks does not run its tools. SpyFu ($39 to $249) covers keywords; AdEye ($60) shows rivals' live Google ads.

One version on Google, no variations
iSpionage is gone. The domain now redirects to TapClicks, whose page says iSpionage "has officially shut down as of 07/09/2025" and asks visitors not to book a demo expecting iSpionage tools. If you used it for PPC competitor research, the closest like-for-like replacement is SpyFu ($39 to $249 a month) for keywords and ad copy history. Semrush's Advertising toolkit ($99 or $220 a month) fits teams that already live in Semrush. For a rival's real, current Google ad creative with run length and daily new-ad alerts, AdEye starts at $60 a month. Google's Auction Insights stays free for the competitors you actually meet.
Plenty of pages that rank for iSpionage still describe it as a working product with a free trial, and review directories still list its plans. That leaves former customers, and agencies that inherited an iSpionage workflow, picking a replacement from stale information. This guide is for that buyer. It covers what iSpionage did and cost before it closed, which tool now covers each job, and what nothing replaces exactly. Prices for the replacements come from each vendor's own pricing page.
Is iSpionage still available?
No. iSpionage stopped operating on July 9, 2025, according to the notice TapClicks publishes where the iSpionage site used to be. Visiting ispionage.com, including the old pricing page, now lands on that TapClicks page. TapClicks says your reports and data can continue there, but it is a marketing reporting and analytics platform, and its notice says plainly that the iSpionage tools are not available on TapClicks. Competitor keyword research and competitor ad monitoring went away with it.
What iSpionage cost before it shut down
The last iSpionage pricing page captured by the Internet Archive, in February 2025, listed four plans. Annual billing saved 15 percent, and new customers got a 30-day money-back guarantee as long as they had not downloaded more than 1,000 data points.
| Plan | Monthly | Billed annually | Main limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $59 | $50 a month | 10,000 exports a day, 15 monitored PPC keywords, 3 months of history, 1 user |
| Professional | $99 | $84 a month | 100,000 exports a day, 25 PPC keywords, 12 months of history, white-label reports, 1 user |
| Advanced | $299 | $254 a month | Unlimited exports, 50 PPC keywords, 24 months of history, 3 users |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Daily crawls, landing page A/B test monitoring, custom users |
Its data covered Google, Yahoo and Bing in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia. That price band matters when you replace it: a team that paid $99 for Professional can rebuild most of the workflow at a similar cost, while an Enterprise customer who relied on landing page monitoring will need two tools.
What is the best alternative to iSpionage?
The best alternative depends on which iSpionage feature you used most. For competitor keyword lists and ad copy history, SpyFu is the closest match and the cheapest. For a full search marketing suite, Semrush. For the ads a rival is running on Google right now, with how long each has run, AdEye. Most former iSpionage users need one keyword tool and one source of real ad creative.
| What you used iSpionage for | Closest replacement | What it costs | Gap to know about |
|---|---|---|---|
| Competitor PPC keywords and keyword gap | SpyFu, or Semrush Advertising Research | SpyFu $39, $119 or $249 a month; Semrush Advertising $99 or $220 | Both are modelled from search results, not read from the rival's account |
| Competitor ad copy history | SpyFu for text ad history; AdEye for live creative | AdEye $60, $99, $300 or $600 a month; $30 to $300 billed yearly | SpyFu stores text ads; AdEye adds Display and YouTube from Google's record |
| SEM Campaign Watch alerts | AdEye watch list with daily new-ad emails | Paid AdEye plans | Alerts track a rival's ads, not your keyword positions |
| SEO rank tracking | Semrush or SpyFu rank tracking | Included in the plans above, with caps | Not an ad research job; keep it in your SEO tool |
| Who you compete with in the auction | Auction Insights in Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising | Free with active campaigns | Only auctions you entered; no ads or offers |
| Landing page gallery and A/B monitoring | A website change monitor | Varies | No ad tool reproduces this exactly |
SpyFu, the like-for-like replacement
SpyFu is the tool iSpionage most often compared itself with, and it covers the same core: a competitor's paid keywords, estimated clicks and cost, and years of text ad history. Basic is $39 a month, Pro + AI $119 (with a $59 first month), and Team / Agency $249, or $29, $89 and $187 a month billed yearly. Basic caps results and exports at 10,000 rows, so former iSpionage Professional users will usually land on Pro + AI. There is no free trial, but SpyFu offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. It covers Google only. Our SpyFu pricing breakdown goes tier by tier.
Semrush Advertising toolkit, for teams already on Semrush
Semrush sells competitor ad research as a separate Advertising toolkit: Base at $99 a month with Advertising Research and PLA Research for Shopping, and Pro at $220 with limited display, social or video ad data from AdClarity. If your SEO team already pays for Semrush, adding the toolkit keeps everything in one login. If you only need PPC research, it costs more than SpyFu for the same kind of modelled data. The SpyFu vs Semrush comparison covers the trade-off.
AdEye, for the ads themselves
Keyword tools tell you what a rival probably bids on. They do not show you the full set of ads it is paying to run today. AdEye reads Google's own Ads Transparency Center, so when you search a competitor's domain you get its live Search, Display and YouTube ads in one feed, with a first-seen date and run length on every ad and the long runners sorted to the top. Add rivals to a watch list on a paid plan and AdEye emails you the new ads it finds each day, which is the part of iSpionage's Campaign Watch most agencies miss. Plans cost $60, $99, $300 or $600 a month for 500 to 20,000 searches, or half that billed yearly, after a one-time demo of 10 searches. AdEye does not show keywords, bids or spend, and it covers Google only, so pair it with SpyFu or Semrush if you need the keyword side. You can try it from the search box on this page, or read how it fits a PPC competitor analysis workflow.
Auction Insights, free and authoritative
Inside your own Google Ads account, Auction Insights lists the domains that entered the same auctions as you, with impression share, overlap rate and outranking share. Microsoft Advertising has its own Auction insights report, which matters if you relied on iSpionage's Bing coverage. Neither shows a rival's ads, offers or landing pages, and neither covers auctions you did not enter. Our Google Ads Auction Insights page explains what each statistic means.
What did iSpionage do that no ad tool replaces exactly?
Two things. First, the landing page gallery and landing page A/B test monitoring on Enterprise. Ad research tools show you the ad and where it points, not every version of the page behind it. If watching rivals' pages change was the main reason you paid, a dedicated competitor website change monitoring tool is the better fit than any PPC tool. Second, Yahoo and Bing ad data in one place. SpyFu and AdEye are Google-only, so for Microsoft Advertising rivals your best free source is the Auction insights report in your own account.
How to move off iSpionage without losing your competitor list
- Export what TapClicks still lets you reach. If you were moved to TapClicks, pull any saved reports and competitor lists while you can. Treat them as a starting list, because the research data behind them is no longer updated.
- Rebuild the competitor list by domain. Every replacement above works from a competitor's website domain, so a plain list of domains per client is all you need to carry over.
- Split the jobs. Put keyword and gap research in SpyFu or Semrush, and put the ads themselves in AdEye, where you can enter up to five rival domains at once and read them in one feed.
- Recreate your alerts. Add each rival to an AdEye watch list for daily new-ad emails, and set rank tracking in your SEO tool for the keywords you used to monitor.
- Save the history you care about. Ordinary commercial ads drop out of public view once they stop running, so save the ads worth keeping to boards per client. Paid AdEye plans export a board to CSV for client reports.
Does TapClicks include iSpionage?
No. The iSpionage domain now points to TapClicks, but TapClicks does not run a copy of the tool. Its notice says iSpionage tools are not available on TapClicks, and it pitches TapClicks for reporting SEO, GA4 and campaign data. If you need marketing reporting across your own channels, TapClicks or a similar dashboard can do that job. If you need to see what competitors are bidding on and running, you need one of the replacements above.
Is SpyFu better than iSpionage was?
For most PPC buyers, SpyFu now does more for less. Its Pro + AI plan at $119 removes the row caps and keeps more than a decade of history, where iSpionage Professional at $99 kept 12 months and Advanced at $299 kept 24. iSpionage was stronger on landing page monitoring and on Bing and Yahoo coverage. Both were built around search text ads, so neither is the place to read a rival's Display or YouTube creative, which is the gap a creative source such as AdEye fills.
If you are rebuilding an agency stack, our PPC spy tools comparison sets every current option side by side on verified prices, and the ad spy tool for agencies page shows a per-client workflow.
